Although all of our wordlists and the vast majority of our online teaching, learning and content-development tools are 100% open source and free, many ELT publishers and online learning companies are making use of NGSL lists to create their own commercial language learning products. Here are a few of the products the NGSL authors have had a hand in:

  • In Focus EFL Textbook Series

    In Focus (Browne, Culligan & Phillips, 2023, 2024) is a new 4-level EFL textbook series put out through Kinseido Publishing to teach the NGSL and NAWL through reading, discussion and critical thinking skills activities. The series utilizes many of the great free online resources we developed for the NGSL Project. In Focus 1 and 2 as well as In Focus Academic 1 were published in 2023, with In Focus Intro released in 2024. Learn more here.

  • WordFish

    Coming Soon! Based on the “Browne Method” of WORDS-INPUT-OUTPUT-HEART (Kenkyusha, 2027), the WordFish learning platform was developed by Dr. Charles Browne to help students to systematically and quickly master the New General Service List (NGSL) through flashcards, interactive games, AI-powered speaking and pronunciation tools, extensive reading and authentic videos, all tracked seamlessly via your school's LMS.   • TOEIC Vocabulary and ER Series

    Coming Soon: Developed by NGSL Project founders Dr. Charles Browne and Dr. Brent Culligan, our new three-volume TOEIC Vocabulary & Extensive Reading Series systematically teaches all 1,250 words of the TOEIC Service List (TSL), a corpus-based list providing approximately 99% coverage of contemporary TOEIC content. Each 400-450 word workbook is paired with a companion extensive reader featuring 20 illustrated business, travel, and workplace stories that recycle the exact vocabulary from each unit—moving learners from deliberate study to repeated, meaningful exposure.     EnglishCentral makes extensive use of NGSL Project wordlists to help systematically teach vocabulary though the context of authentic videos as well as to grade the difficulty of videos throughout the site. Much of the original 'Watch, Speak, Learn" pedagogy was developed by NGSL Project co-founder, Dr Charles Browne in the early days of the company when he worked as an educational consultant for EnglishCentral.
