Bible Stories for Everyone is an innovative graded reading project created by Dr. Charles Browne to help learners of English engage with Bible stories at a level they can read comfortably and enjoy. Each story is carefully controlled for vocabulary and presented at multiple levels, allowing learners to develop their English through extensive reading while encountering the people, stories, and teachings of the Bible.

The project is built around two corpus-based vocabulary lists: the New General Service List or NGSL (Browne, Culligan & Phillips, 2013), which provides the core vocabulary of general English, and the Bible English List or BEL (Browne & Culligan, 2026), which adds 1,000 high-frequency words important for reading the Bible. Together, the NGSL and BEL provide approximately 99% coverage of Bible English.

This site is a working prototype of a larger project currently in development. The vision is to combine scientifically controlled vocabulary, engaging storytelling, and illustration to create a scalable Bible-reading environment for English learners worldwide.
